Moto Gp (Nokia N-Gage)

Moto Gp (Nokia N-Gage)
Customer Review: DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!!!
When i first got this game i thought it was going to be a very good game, with quality graphics, and as the other reviewer said “?very fast?”. How wrong i was, this has to be one of the most boring games i have evr played! I had more fun playing Thomas The Tank Engine on the Commodore 64 and in fact, it probably had better graphics as well.
The scenery on moto gp is unbelievably dull and it doesnt feel like you are driving smoothly, it slows down so much!its like your stuck in a traffic jam, not racing a high powered motorbike.
The first time i played this game, i put it on hard and completed the game in less than an hour!
If u are looking for a fun game do not buy this, trust me - u will have more fun hitting yourself over the head with the game case than actually playing the game!

Customer Review: This is soooo good
This game looks amazing!!!! all on a tiny little n-gage screen, the colours are vibrant and the graphics are up to the standard of the ps1’s!!!! The game is a motor bike racer and features 10 of the most exotic racing bike, plus some of the worlds top racing circuits! The game is very fast and features a multiplayer mode so up to four people can play at once against each other!!! So i like this game and rate it quite highly. The game is, overall, good value for its money. Allthough, after a while it can get slightly repetitive.

Colin Mcrae 2005 (Nokia N-Gage)

Colin Mcrae 2005 (Nokia N-Gage)
Customer Review: why buy a psp
This game is quite possibly the best game for the n gage it has amazing graphics and sound effects and is as good as the ps one versions of colin mcrae. You will be amazed at how they have managed to cram every aspect of the console game onto the n gage! This game and Fifa and may be ashen and Rayman and you are set for all your portable gaming needs. Who needs a bulky PSP for 100 less you could own the ultimate handheld device.

Customer Review: Excellent realistic rally sim
This is possibly the best game on the N-gage, it’s also one of the best portable racing simulators ever.

The graphics are excellent (the scenery is full of lovely touches and really feels like its locations: twisty hilly roads in italy, snow-filled pine forests in sweden, dusty plains in australia, white valleys in greece etc), fast and smooth with no slowdown. More importantly though the gameplay is difficult and deep… if you just accelerate blindly you’ll damage your car and lose the race (and the damage is visible, you see bits hanging off the car as it gets more and more trashed).

The biggest surprise for me was how deep the gameplay was. Normally racers aren’t very thoughtful but this isn’t an arcade game, it’s a real rally sim. You have to plan your maintenance strategy fairly carefully between races, decide which tyres to go for, which car etc etc.

The nicest thing though was the n-gage arena support: you can race against other people round the world through the internet which means even when you beat the game you still have real people to compete with.

This isn’t an easy game, you have to put time and effort into it to win. If you prefer arcadey racers on the n-gage, try Asphalt urban GT. If you like realism, go for Colin.

Tomb Raider (Nokia N-Gage)

Tomb Raider (Nokia N-Gage)
Customer Review: Tomb Raider (Nokia N-Gage)
The first game is on the Nokia N-Gage and it’ still a classic gameplay is greatlevels are fantastic controls are a bit funky but still this a 10/10 Must Buy!

Customer Review: Nokia do the business for Lara
I heard some horror stories about the N-Gage and Tomb Raider, but I haveto say that those bad reviews are nonsense! The game plays a treat (it’sactually faster than the sluggish PSOne version) and the control system isokay, if not perfect (but then what is?).
A must-buy product for the N-Gage tht wipes the floor with anything I’veseen on the GBA.
The controls may be a little fiddly at first, but I’m still giving thegame top marks for squeezing what is still one of the PSOne’s best gamesonto a hand-held machine.

Spread Spectrum: Hedy Lamarr and the Mobile Phone

Spread Spectrum: Hedy Lamarr and the Mobile Phone
Customer Review: The Godmother of Spread Spectrum
The most beautiful girl in the world was also the inventor of spread spectrum. She was granted Patent #2,292,387 on 11th August 1942 with co-inventor George Antheil for a “Secret Communication System”.

The story behind the pair and how they made the invention is detailed in the wonderbook, Spread Spectrum: Hedy Lamarr and the Mobile Phone by Rob Walters. Apart from the fascinating story of the pair, the book’s great strength is that it is written by someone who clearly understands radio technology very well and explains the applications so the non-technical reader can understand it easily.

The brief story is that Hedy Lamarr was born in Austria between the World Wars, became an actress and gained notoriety as the first woman to appear nude in a film. She married an Arms dealer and entertained Adolf Hilter and Mussolini at their palatial home. She didn’t like the direction that Europe was heading into (or her husband) and escaped to the USA. On the ship crossing the Atlantic, Louis B Meyer offered her a job. She starred in a few movies and immediately became famous. She met “the bad boy of music” George Antheil, who shared her hatred of the Nazi’s and together they invented spread spectrum. The original application they came up with was as a guidance system for torpedo’s which could not be jammed. The first application came in the 1950s with the US Navy.

The story of George Antheil is as interesting as Hedy Lamarr’s. He was a talented piano player and composer who moved to Europe in between the wars and experimented with new music. His lists of acquaintances are like a who’s who’s of the cultural scene at the time. His piece Ballet M?canique created riots the first time it was played in Berlin and Paris. In fact only recently with the advent of computers has the piece been able to played as originally written. It sounds absolutely terrible to me. He returned to the USA and moved to Hollywood to write music for the movies where he met Hedy.

Of course, the invention was too advanced for those mechanical times, but with the silicon of today it is implemented within CDMA, Bluetooth & WiFi technologies.

The story is so good that I’m sure one day it will be made into a movie. The majority of current Hollywood vixens would love to play someone with more than one brain cell. The ending will have to be changed: torpedos being deployed and killing her evil Arms Trading ex-husband…

Customer Review: The Lamarr Code
The Lamarr Code

This is a book of the most spectacular innovation in modern times, The Spread Spectrum or the mobile phone, made easy to understand with the help of a movie star and a composer. The actress is Hedy Lamarr and the composer George Antheil, who met by chance in Hollywood and patented the concept of “The Secret Communication System” a means of reliably and securely controlling a torpedo by radio.

The author is Rob Walters, Oxford, England, a well known lecturer, speaker and author of literature in telecom and of late in radio technology and specialising in the evolution of mobile communication. With all the references to historical events and persons he displays great erudition. Rob Walters may take part of the credit for the stupendous development of the mobile communication. This is due to his extensive travelling and lecturing around the world.

The story cleverly intertwines the mobile story with Hollywood glamour. It is at times an unnerving thriller detailing the evolution of the different parts and bits that made today’s mobile phone such a success. It also clarifies why Europe made a head start in conquering the world with its mobile system (GSM). And today you can enjoy the flicks of Hedy Lamarr in your 3G mobile phone. Not a trifle feat. Some never die!

It is a good read - enjoy!!!
